Congrats to him and his wife. Thank God for pictures oh because some people had started claiming he was lying about that title.
You mean and his Lolo :)
Congrats to them
I have been dying to meet his wife. Emeka is such a sweet mouthed guy. He can Shag you just by the words of his mouth.
Why do young educated people sign-up for village chieftancy titles? Ego? Connections? Power? I just don't get it. Is a chieftancy title the equivalent of a university degree in Igboland? Do they get paid? Can they parlay those village titles into contracts and political appointments? Can someone please explain the draw and attraction in this day and age because I just don't get it.

@Anon 13:46 STFU and get your ugly face out of here
He has got a beautiful wife.
Emeka stay with your wife and save your marriage, if what anon has said is true.
You don’t have to earn money from it before its worth having. Neither do you need a degree before a chieftaincy title is awarded to you. SO long you deserve it, you get it
Why do young educated people sign-up for village chieftancy titles? --------why not? there's more to life than contracts and political appointments.
Thot he was married to a white chic?
@Anon 21 March, 2012 14:02, lolz. Most times it's not about the title holder being attracted, sometimes, it's the king and his chiefs or sometimes the natives that decides who they want to honour with a particular title based on his/her track record. Some people have been known to refuse such titles.Of course, there are situations where people buy titles (looking pointedly at some governors); those ones are only indulging themselves and do it for the power and prestige it connotes and on the flip side it is sometimes the King that manufactures some great-sounding-but-never-before-heard title in order to curry financial favours from his rich friends, e sha se toju oba (Now,looking pointedly at one paramount Yoruba King, i no talk anything oo).
Anon 21 March, 2012 15:52; I wasn't going to comment until i read your post.I think Chieftaincy titles are a bit obsolete. It's a status thing. There are also deeper meanings to some of these titles that we aren't privy to.
Is it possible to take a chieftaincy title without undergoing some traditional rites? My two cents is that you can't serve God and man. I don't think a true Christian can be a chief in the real sense.
Absolute nonsense, ezekwesili my ass. this is my problem with people from the south east. They can do anything all in the name to become a chief. Even criminals and ritualist in igboland are chief(s). The traditional rulers are hungry so what do u expect when they come and buy title with a bad of rice and one cow. Chief engr. Actor Emeka ike, u don try
In Igbo land a "Titled man" is looked at as a leader in the society.
Chieftancy titles = inferiority complex. It's also very fetish.
This is Anon 14:02. Many thanks for the great replies to my questions. I am only asking these questions because I am Yoruba and in Yorubaland, only old or semi-illiterate people pick up these chieftancy titles. I was just puzzled that a young man that I am assuming is somewhat educated, will go to his village to become a chief. I can't imagine going back home and telling my friends that I am becoming a chief! They will think I have gone crazy and call me "razz", LOL. It really isn't something to celebrate in young, well-educated circles as far as I know. But then, we all come from different backgrounds and upbringing.
Ha, gbagbe oo, prob it's because u don't reside here. It's not all chiefs that r razz, it actually depends on the status of the king himself. Look at awujale's council of chiefs, those men are eminent pple, not useless money miss roads. I can't say much on d fetish aspects but i can talk on d quality of pple wrt achievements. In a council where u have pple like Dr. Hassan of eye foundation, sonny kuku (eko hospital), subomi balogun (fcmb) etc. Of course on d other hand, we also have respected thieves in their midst but in such a setting, pple like emeka ike/any yoruba actor can never become a chief, o kere si number. In a case like that, pple will envy you, it's like an exclusive club but me no fit chook my head into that kain setting cuz of the fetishness and the ceremony that usually marks such titles.
whats the big deal? people buy chieftancy titles with money these days.even me sef, can get a title in my village if i want. all they want is people who have money and can contribute to the society. its all about 'iji ego?' and connections. #igbothings
there are so many educated kings and chiefs in yorubaland. Exposure is key ..... step out some more
