Ouote of the Day: I can’t marry an Igbo man, they poke nose a lot

The actress recently granted punch an interview where she said, waiting for an Igbo man will make her end up single for life. Lol, this is not even funny. Some Igbo’s won’t take it lightly with tonto. But then, it’s her life. Read the question and her response below;
Punch: We heard you will be getting married soon to your new boyfriend who happens to come from Benin, Edo state. Why are so many Nollywood females getting snapped up by Benin or men from Edo state?
Tonto Dike: First of all, it is nobody’s business where my fiancé comes from. That out of the way, yes Benin men are great and very understanding. They are not siting and judging you unlike an Igbo man that will want to be poke-nosing in everything you do. You make your money and the Edo man is not interested in your personal affairs. If I keep waiting for an Igbo man I will just end up eternally single

  1. An not and.

It's her choice and i'm glad someone has something nice to say about Benin men, which i hardly ever hear.

What type of Ibo men is she talking about? Her Ikwerre type? The Ika Ibo type or the core Eastern type? Too vast to belong to one school of thought. She pigeonholed a vast and disparate group.

Haven't heard "poke nosing" since my secondary school days. *smiling*

  5. Hian! Tonto should stop generalising joor. It's probably all those insecure and low self esteem traders she knows.

While I've not dated any Igbo man, I've and have had lots of Igbo male friends. They are very creative, smart and very articulate (the ones I know oh). They can wriggle their way out of any situation no matter how tricky :-) and they can improvise!

  6. One of the many reasons I luv Tonto is because of her blunt way of expressing herself

  7. Look at this Tonto of a thing. She looks so old and worn out upon all the pancake and miscellaneous animal hair on her head.
Any man that doesn't care how you make your money should raise a red flag. But carry on, na you get your life

  8. Ahhhh! She should get ready to be bombarded by igbo brodas!

  10. Fine girl and she needs to extend her cream to her knuckles so it blends. She's not really Igbo (she's from Rivers) so what does she know? Or is it the Igbo men in Nollywood or the dodgy Igbo guys she used to hang out with that she's now using as a yardstick? Some people will find her statement tribalistic. Good luck in Ile Ibinu!!

  11. Igbo men have pride and protect their woman with all they have because they see you as part of them. True edo men dont poke nose, but i rather my husband be concerned abt my well being than ignoring me. Again to each his own, i hope she is satisfied.

  12. Agaracha says ...

Sure Toto Dike ..... *loosely translated*

"As a begger with no choice, if i keep waiting for an igbo man, my already expired market will rot"
(Agracha says... there's so much repackaging and kegel exercise one can do)

    or

"A bini man understands our runs, so as long i'm servicing him and bringing home enough money, he lets me conduct business as usual"
    (ask his sisters in Italy)

  14. No igbo man wants an ashawo that has slept with basically every one, plus smokes heavily and has a devilish tatoo on her body. Edo men dont care about her ashawoness, after all that is what some edo girls do best.

  18. Well no igbo man in his right senses would propose to her in d 1st place because they r proud n they'll nt tolerate a woman who has no respect for herself n others n who thinks dat because she has an income she can sleep around n behave irresponsibly. Edo men on d other hand don't care abt wat their women do as long as she's bringing in d money. Not being tribalistic or judgemental bt talking from experience. Edo men no be am at all!

  27. why is she referring to him as fiance? Is there an engagement we don't know about? abi is she too illiterate to differentiate between boyfriend and fiance?

Abeg the girl needs to sit somewhere jo! She thinks marriage and relationship are thesame thing. Let her marry the edo (or any tribe) man first and continue with her kurukere waka let me see if her mouth will not change...

  40. Unrelated I know, but from the L'espace gist(topic), I wonder why Ladun stopped accepting comments.Even I learnt something from all the drama. Nothing is hidden under the sun, even when God forgives, he makes us suffer the consequences so we can learn from our "mistakes". I hope lessons have been learnt now.

  41. hAHAHA! I hope her future Edo husband doesn't ship her off to Italy to go make money! Ode buruku!

  42. Anon 8:21: Will you say the same about the Ikas?

The Ikwerre are considered by scholars a subgroup of the Igbo people of southeastern Nigeria
There are several theories over the origin, and the most strong one is the theory linking the Ikwerre to an Igbo origin. They would be descendents from an Igbo migration from Awka and Orlu areas towards South. Igbo scholars take Ikwerre as part of the Southern Igbo. Amadi, an Ikwerre scholar, says that the Igbo origin theory has some support even inside Ikwerre themselves, with Ikwerre would be descendants of a migration of Arochukwu Igbo, with Ogpo Wagidi being the leader of the Ikwerre tribe. During the colonial period the Ikwerre named themselves as Igbo, although this could have been done just for convenience in the political climate of that time.

  44. Well at least igbo man will not marry you and sleep with your friends and have children everywhere and still move out of your home and leave you with your children. You want Benin men ? okay ythey leave their first wives and marry famouse nigerian girls and soon after they will start to waka waka .Imagine a nigerian babe that was once a beauty queen, saw this edo guy with a babe from jos and took him away married him and the rest is history. As we speak he has two kids from two girls and he has since packed out off their home and and his night club is dead.So here you are compare my beautiful igbo man to this edo men.Wmen shine your eyes.My advice to that girl is pick up yourself and move on he will have more children. Now that you are still beautiful you can move on babay girl.As Edo man he has a son already and that is that.
