Incase You Want To See: NEW VIDEO: Toolz Interviews Tiwa Savage

36 comments:

  1. Two eloquent people. First time I've ever heard Toolz speaking. Hmmmm, the hips don't lie.

I know she was joking about the "we need a cook" and "I'm going to have to go because i have people waiting," however she sounded churlish! Such jokes shouldn't creep into interviews. Toolz handled it well.

Tiwa strikes me as someone who takes herself way too seriously. She's got talent no doubt and a fab voice.

  2. Okay this was an awesome, awesome interview. I must say this is my first time ever watching toolz conduct an interview and she did great. The chemistry between her and Tiwa was awesome...Now on to the negatives...you two ladies should please, please, please watch Banky W's interview with Toke on flytime. Banky kept it 100!!! His accent stayed true to that of an educated, well travelled naija man. Banky has an African American or westindian mom, partly grew up in yankee, went to the best butter schools where all the kids would force british english everyday all day, but he still kept his what I call "educated naija accent" as much as Toke was spitting all the britico accent, he still stayed true. It is soooooo annoying when naijas cannot speak with their normal accents. Now almost every fatai, njideka and halima have a british, american or britamerican accent in that phoney place called naija. That is an epic fail. Tiwa even tried. I didnt really hear that british accent much but becos toolz was so into it, tiwa had to try and keep up. The REAL educated born with a silver spoon and exposed naijas do not and should not be faking/forcing foreign accents please. You guys have stayed away from your various countries where you went to school to now speak with a naija accent

  5. Is that grey hair on Tiwa's head or its just a hairstyle? why didnt she wear earrings? toolz looks good sha. for a size 16 plus she really packs well. Please what does she wear under her dresses. I dare not try these body hugging dresses, i will be called Mrs Michelin

  6. This interview feels like two newly introduced 'friends' gisting; TMI being shared but neither of them is quite 'free' with the other. A bit awkward. Tiwa is a bit uptight; forced laughter and general body language

lol @ winchy-winchy, my babalawo is strong and her first time meeting Don jazzy "maybe you can produce songs for me" "this is tiwa savage"

btw, is it only me that thinks Toolz looks like a bigger version of Tiwa?

  7. Never heard for Toolz (had to do a google search on her, lol) but after watching this, I like her, she seems very cool

Thumbs up to both of them

Nice vibe and camaraderie from both ladies. Liking Toolz more and more everyday.

my thots; IMO, Banky's accent was very American. Nothing like an educated Nigerian accent.

For an educated Nigerian accent the late Ojukwu and currently Gamaliel Onosode and Emeka Anyaoku. There are a few more names i can give but those three readily come to mind.

Tiwa has lost a lot of her British accent because she schooled and lived in LA. So a mixture of both has led to her mid-Atlantic/polished accent. She seemed contrived and a bit pompous.

Re-The REAL educated born with a silver spoon and exposed naijas do not and should not be faking/forcing foreign accents please.....Are you sure? There are plenty who do it. Try Eyimofe Atake, especially in court. It's so annoying. Also, Folorunsho Alakija and if i may, has anyone ever heard Erelu Ojuolape Ojora speak? Aisha Babangida if you can call her silver-spoon speaks with a forced accent too.

  9. STFU my thots

  10. my thots; your problem with accents is? How does it affect you or does it intimidate you? Let them do what they want. As long as they are not shelling i can handle accents.
They both look good in blue and Tiwa is a diva oh.

  11. Really fun interview . love Toolz' accent and after watching this i just loved toolz a lot more. Tiwa came off a bit smug and standoffish to me, and quite proud too. All that talk of needing a cook sounded demeaning and even when Toolz was joking about being cuddly Tiwa now starts tapping her watch and saying "My people" are waiting for me............ oooh please, even if ur JLo sef. And well if that was meant to be a joke it was a poor one.

  15. I am with the anonymous who commented about the accent thing, it irks me a lot too. And I see all the guilty voltrons on here. I have never lived a day outside of the united states but I am very much into the Nigerian community where I live and I try as much as possible to speak like the people in my group and not spit my american accent. I wonder why so many on the television and radio stations I see online constantly sound british. Is Nigeria little london now?

  16. Naijas have a HUGE HUMONGOUS GIGIANTIC complex and that explains their not keeping it real when it comes to speaking. Funny thing is some have never left the shores of naija and you hear all the innit innit and ya'll or you know what I'm saying...okay o. Like someone mentioned Ojukwu is a perfect example of someone who never ever fell into that "i have to force or change my accent before I can get my point accross saga". I also think Banky just sounded like a well spoken Naija boy and not american at all

  20. @my thots. you have said it all. that Toke's accent is the only reason why i can never take her serious. VI induced british accent.

    ReplyDelete
  21. @interesting, i like your sincerity.

    ReplyDelete
  22. you can never defend that accent thing. it is lousy and sickening. When did Toke even live abroad? it is always the ones who scrapped money and went to England and holed up in Hackney that come back with lousy accents. Boys and girls who keep a flat in West End no get reason for all that formings.Toke's bleached out skin and that lousy accent make me suspect she has inferiority issues.

    ReplyDelete
  23. As much as i like Toolz, this her accent tire me. No be the same abroad Recks go?

  24. So there's a "Mavin House"?? Issokay

  25. Tiwa so all the nights of sneaking into Mo Hits villa in the boot worked out for you. We thank God. We know you are a blog lord that's why you were reading stuff about you. You feel quite important right? I bet you still read all that stuff.
Meanwhile, hmmmm IDJA na wa 2 of his babes. *coughs* There may be underlying beef especially with the cook comment. Love Toolz sha. I blame radio stations and even TV stations for the phonetics thing. It didn't just start today. The like of Siene Allwell-Brown and Paula Kanu have always spoken through their noses. Olisa Adibua institutionalized it.

  26. Hahaha I die of laughter! Nigerians you all who commented here are the ones with Big issues what is your business with how people speak? Close your ears if Toolz's accent is so thick. Haba! People who speak fluently you say they are forming. Is it because you do not know how to speak well. E pele o. If Toke de pain una abeg drink panadol. I Knew her when she lived in London and it was not hackney, she lived central sha. Her sisters still live in London so what is the big deal in living abroad? She was hustling to get on Tv sha,no be small thing.I remember today MTV, tomorrow bentv I praise her sha o cos I see her her dreams coming true now. It is not easy.
Don't I just love tiwa savage. Everyone has a dream and I am happy tiwa has made it big in Nigeria. So proud of tiwa and she makes me believe anyone can make it. She sounds like a good girl so I don't believe she is sleeping with don jazzy and she is in a relationship Jo tiwa osheeeee! My name is itunu

  27. Toke is not poor so the scrapped comment is a joke on you. Comment wisely, don't be stupid. Nigerian women make me sick. Una sit on deer dey write u never taya?

  28. Tiwa strikes me like she's letting the small fame get to her. Its so obvious with comments like @its Tiwa Savage@ sooooo. has she 4gotten when she was like a lapdog following Dbanj to LA ro receive his BET Awards when she clearly had no business there

Yes Toolz oyinbo plenty small, but Tiwas hug and facial expression when Toolz requested a hug tell u that they are just managing to be friends, If the chance comes they will surely back bite each other. Lastly the offer of bn a cook is not the kind of joke you put out like that. Haba off all things to say "my people are wating" which people The MAVIN boys. Im a Tiwa fan but her attitude during this interview tell me she feeling bigger than she thinks she is.. Tschewwwwww " my people are waiting" sooo

  29. Good and lovely interview . but Tiwa strikes me like she's letting the small fame get to her. Its so obvious with comments like I thought "its Tiwa Savage"/dont u have time to produce a song 4 me? when she met Don Jazzy and sooooo .Has she 4gotten when she was like a lapdog following Dbanj to LA ro receive his BET Awards when she clearly had no business there

Or Toolz has some comma with Don Jazzy and this is making Tiwa feel uncomfortable. She could barely hug toolz...even to pretent hard sef. hmmmmm

  30. Lovely interview I totally enjoyed every bit of it. The humour and the clarity of speech was endearing. I had to play the video twice.
Two amazing women doing well for themselves.
It is the first time I am commenting on Ladun's blog... Guys, the cook thing was a joke come on. A lot of us will speak that way to people we are familiar with.

  31. @anoymous 15 May, 2012 14:....actually I find nothing wrong in Tia confessing she reads the blogs and how it makes her feel. They are all on twitter and they definitely read from their fans, stans and haters so why should she not admit she reads it. Beyonce as big as she is, has done an interview where she said the people who write mean things about her in the tabloid used to get to her but now she has come to realize you cannot please everyone nor make everyone like you so she is learning to take both the negative and the postives. Even mama Oprah has also commented about peoples accusations of her having a gay relationship with her best friend Gayle. Tyra Banks the model went as far as getting a doctor on her show to debunk the rumours that she had breast implants. These people are human and do read what people have to say about them o

  34. Anon 16 May, 2012 11:48 ride on jor. You know what i'm saying. There must be beef somewhere oh. No one said there's no such thing as sounding like an educated Nigerian. In fact, isn't that how "we" all sound? Never heard Olu Maintain utter a word, but if he speaks well, good on him.
