Meet Miss Sahhara also known by his legal name Oche. He is a transgender man. Oche who was born male took part in the Miss International Queen beauty pageant which is strictly for transgenders last year. For those that don’t know “transgender describes a person, male or female, who dresses, behaves or presents themselves in a way that is different from their gender norm. Transgender includes transvestites/crossdressers, Drag Queens/Kings. It does NOT include transsexual people”.
‘Transsexual’ describes a person, male or female, born with a congenital neurological intersex condition (Benjamin’s syndrome). Although transsexualism almost always requires some form of medical intervention up to and including genital surgery, it is not defined by, nor restricted to, that treatment.
For those of you concerned about his safety in Nigeria seeing as he is breaking the country’s strict anti gay laws. Sahara/Oche is safely tucked away in the UK…so no 14 years jail time for him.
According to Ebuka Obi Uchendu who tweeted about him, he was quite popular a few years ago in Abuja where he lived in an openly feminine manner.
He is stunning sha! Guys don’t lie…if you saw Oche in a club there’s no way you would be able to tell he’s a man. Men need to be careful these days cos some of these transgender dudes are killing it! They look better than a lot of chicks I know. Guys would have toasted finish and even gotten intimate before they see wetin their eye no fit handle!
The Miss International Queen Pagent is a pageant for transgenders from around the world to present their individual beauty and intelligence in a friendly atmosphere.
Thanks to that1960chick

ReplyDeleteLadun abeg get your facts right. He/She is not Nigeria's first, at least we knew about Dapo before Clifford (now ms Sahara)...
ReplyDeleteExactly. I knew Dapo as far back as 2000 back then in OAU.
DeleteYes he/she is Nigerian. Watched the documentary
DeleteWonders of the world. Lol
ReplyDeleteShe is pretty
ReplyDelete*In Yeezy's voice* that shit cray!!

DeleteSorry but whats the difference between transgender and transsexual?
ReplyDeleteI knew someone would soon ask. Please use your dictionary or ask wiki.
ReplyDelete22 May, 2012 04:25 - Read the whole post and then tell us. Lazy bones. Why ask when you have eyes?
ReplyDeleteendtime tinz...
ReplyDeleteWas watching it on skydiving last night and even recorded it oh my he is very pretty and disgusting to think what he has done and his way of life may God have mercy .. The poor parents!
ReplyDeleteOche was sorta known in abj way back!
ReplyDeleteAnd Ebuka used to know him? Lemme go and add 2 and 2 together!
ReplyDeleteAwwwww, he has given Denrele hope, but I guess that one can't leave Naija. Plus Denrele says he aint gay, aint that living in denial? Lol
ReplyDeleteIf a naija guy hit on him, would he tell him he was trangender or just go with it. Naija guys better check the 'girls' you toast well well cos I'm sure there are many more like 'her' out there, lol!. By the way trangender involves sex change operation whilst transexual are like drag queens (men dressed up as women).
ReplyDeleteSorry meant transvesites are drag queens (not transexuals)
ReplyDeleteHe is fine sha
ReplyDeleteHmmm. I do not believe anyone would subject themselves to such ridicule and agony unless there was something wrong biologically. I feel for them.
ReplyDeletehttp://abroadtales.blogspot.ca/
I'm beginning to see you as myopic. Some of the things u write here and on ur blog are just too one sided.
DeleteJanded, did she ask u to feel sorry for her? Imagine someone saying something is biologically wrong with u cos u are heterosexual or someone pitying u cos of that. Watch the words u use please. They do not need ur pity, they need ur acceptance. Mtccheew.
DeleteShe is a transgender(ed) woman, not a transgender man. Thus, the pronoun 'She' and not 'He' is applicable.
ReplyDeleteAre you sure? Get your facts right.
DeleteSaw this in the UK yesterday he or she did very well and is very articulate.she seemed very comfortable and had a sad tale to tell.i had to check myself I was feeling very sorry for her
ReplyDeletePls go bacj and study journalism properly so that you know how to captivate the public
ReplyDelete@anon 6:07 you are one unserious fellow. See me see laugh
ReplyDeleteSee his/her butt, abi na hip implants
ReplyDeleteWhy were you so much in a haste to read Lol. Ladun didn’t write it. You should know the way she writes by now.
ReplyDeletehe's not the first. Dapo I think was the first transgender. Knew him when I was at OAU Ife. It even contributed to his being expelled from Faculty of law
ReplyDeleteLol you are such a bully. 'I contributed to his being expelled' LMAOOOOOOOOOOOO
ReplyDeleteSome of the comments here are funny
ReplyDeleteSahara had an edge over the other contestants "shim" was very confident and outspoken. "Shim" has chosen a path.Well it's not a new thing .In the early 90s in East London there used to be a transgender called Brandy who apparently went to Uniben.I remember a gist that time about a naija fella who had done the deed with Brandy via the backside but later discovered that Brandy was a man.The fella became suspicious when Brandy insisted on leaving the lights off one thing led to another the guy apparently felt Brandy's balls in dark. Brandy overpowered the guy and left.. The fella didn't feel thesame for a while then he moved away as he was ashamed.
ReplyDeleteMama Agba ti pami oh! felt his balls? *dead* rotflmao.
ReplyDeleteBabanla Trauma!
This is worrying, seriously it is. I almost feel like people have too much freedom in parts of the world. Dont get me wrong im not for oppression but there has to be a limit. I know that the NHS (british government medical care) will start funding such surgeries, that's if they have not already, nawa ooo
ReplyDeleteLet him live the way he wants to. To be honest im happy when Nigeria do well in anything so well done to him!!!
ReplyDeleteAnon 22 May, 2012 15:12 please read Abike's post again. How is she a bully?
ReplyDeletewow, Oche was my senior in secondary school. GSS BWARI Abuja,i always noticed how queer and funny he looked as a boy. he walked like a girl, talked liked one and when we girls painted our lips with red blood tablets which we got from the sick bay, Oche will join in too! he had a partner in school by the name Monsuru! wow i was shocked when i 1st saw him living openly as w woman! anywayzzzzz life is cray as hell now.
ReplyDeleteYea! I agree with you, He was a year head of me in GSS Bwari too, Abaji House was where he and his Friend Monsuru shared a bunk.
DeleteWe were very gud palz back then we did Music at the FCS.
He's never lived as a male since l knew Him. I flowed with him cuz l showed much respect for his talents and social skills.

Read it properly
"it contributed" he was expelled because he wanted to dress as a woman. He was my childhood friend and a very nice person
he who is without sin cast the first stone. Everyone is feeling sorry for his parents are your own parents proud of you let alone God. Abeg leave him 2 live let God judge.
ReplyDeleteI attended one of the 2 universities in Lagos in the mid 80s there was a guy 'S' in my sociology class. He reminded me of Michael Jackson everytime I saw him , his mannerisms, hair do etc was more ladylike,The guy no dey wear shirt sef na blouse he dey wear. Well by the time we came back for the 2nd year . He never came back. This transgender palaver has been happening in naija for avery long time . Well it's their life
ReplyDeleteAnon 23 May, 2012 16:52 stop quoting unnecessarily.
ReplyDeleteI remember seeing her in Cidi PLaza Abuja and a security asked her to leave the shooping centre because it was a respectable place! Respecatable place and what the hell did he mean by that i wondered, she waas dresssed more classy and decent than some of the woman in the shopping centre, there was nothing disrespectful about her, it was major drama!! But Oche gave the security guy a good piece of her mind!and she looked absolutely fabulous doing soo! I never forget the feeling i had that day!! Injustice, discrimination, that was soo wrong! Living in London all my life i knew that could never happen and i really wanted to stand up for her!! but i could see she was doing a very very good job of that herself!!! How dare a security man ask you to leave! for what!! that is against someones human rights!!!!
ReplyDeleteI am very glad she is in the UK and having the right to live as who she pleases. If she feels she was supposed to be a woman who are we to judge honestly! People we have done things that others might not approve of! I really pray that Africans can learn tolerance for the LGBT community because it may or may not come as a surprise but there are sooooo many in Africa and so many African LGBT around the world and i know they have an established community in London. this is not an oyinbo thing or western thing it is just one of those things! Remember this in all we do ONLY GOD CAN JUDGE US!!!!
P.S I am not gay or a lesbian or Bisexual or transgender. I am Just a concerned human wanting justice for all no matter what race, colour religion, sexuality,or creed you may be, young or old big or small! We all deserve the right to happiness and freedom of expression (as long as it is not inhumane)
If you want more of an insight watch the Documentary Lady Boy airing on British TV
Hello all you enlightened people. All the "when i was in London" "London is fab", "Nigerians are old-fashioned in attitude" people:
ReplyDeleteDo you realise that God has his reasons for making man separate from woman? For making sheep different from goats, and making YOU (humans) sensible and not senseless?
How could anyone (presumably in their right minds) say cross-dressing, sex-change operations, "shim" etc is by any stretch of the imagination ok?
I am a Nigerian, i have been to many countries in the world and i still know that this isnt and will never be ok! We need to pray for people suffering from these afflictions, take them for counseling or psychiatric treatments and i believe with patience, prayers and perseverance, they will be made to see the beauty of their genders. If all else fails, they may need to be put in some sort of colonies so we can keep them away from our impressionable kids.
My God! To think i have 3 kids in a country where people are starting to think that these deviant, pervasive behaviours are alright and elitist! Where went our decency and morals as a nation?
God, save our kids, for we as parents are starting to fail theem by our thoughts, words and actions.
