ALUU 4: Police IG confirms arrest of 4 key suspects

The Inspector General of Police, Mr Mohammed Abubakar, today said four key suspects had been arrested in connection with the gruesome murder of four students of the University of Port Harcourt at Aluu Community in Rivers.

He said the suspects were caught after they were clearly identified in one of the video clips of the incident posted on the Internet.

He identified Felomo Solomon, Cynthia Chinwo, Oziomo Abajuo and Chigozie Evans as the four key suspects. Click to continue reading.

“Of all the suspects arrested, Alhaji Hassan Welewa, the Traditional Ruler of Allu Community, has been indicted by intelligent information as one of the chief instigator, who encouraged the mob to kill and burn those four innocent young men,’’ he said.

The IG said the police were also looking for the whereabouts of  one Coxson Lucky, also known as Bright, who was alleged to be the one the victims went to see with regard to money owed them, who also raised the alarm that the young men were thieves.

A massive deployment of policemen had been made to the area, including detectives to assist the Rivers State Police Command.

“We are investigating every aspect of the killings, including the allegations that some policemen stood idly watching while these hideous act took place’’ the IG concluded.

  2. Nigerian police. Today I stand proud to be under your service, inspite of the appalling facilities provided, you have managed to identify the perpetrators of one of the most heinous crimes our eyes have had the misfortune of witnessing, as you did with our dear Cynthia. Continue to put our government to shame, that with absolutely no training, outdated firearms, under payments, you will heed the cries of Nigerians. A government that allocates the highest part of the budget to security vote and we see nothing.

Please just go a step further in releasing pictures of these men who have been arrested, let us see their faces humiliated, cursed and hopeless, as they await the full wrath of the law, the blood of aluu4, and undoubtedly of our God in heaven.

As for bright, you can run but you can never hide. Knowing the fate that was to befall these men, you never spoke up. May your generations be cursed beyond measure. You will wear the mark of sorrow and misery all the days of your life.

    God be with us

    1. You are proud of what yeye police force. Didn't u hear the parents say the force stop them when they got to d site , just before the boys were burnt or didn't u hear one of the sisters say Police said burn them alive . They are now forming activity arresting innocent people in Aluu to cover their ass. The police are so ready to shoot innocent people that they want us to believe they couldn't control the mob, I saw a brief protest against abacha in the 90s and within second there was tear gas to dispel the crowd.

The police force is a JOKE and this IG is a JOKER and the JOKE is on Nigerians.

Every update makes the case even sadder and so painful. I am SO GLAD they have cleared their name (if nothing at all).

Knowing that they were totally innocent, hit home even harder because it could have been me or Ladun or anyone totally random. I just read the Ghana girl story which is similar in the sense that someone accused her, till today no one saw the phone she was accused of stealing so she too could be totally innocent yet she was stripped and assaulted. Lost her job, her boyfriend and all due to that . It’s a very sad world we live in . Hopefully people will learn now to wait till proven guilty before passing judgement/punishment on others

Facebook can delete an account of a person who is dead. Becos the relatives of the person who died don't have the password to the persons acct, they can make a report to facebook asking them to close the persons account. Some families leave their deceased's acct open for memories, while some others choose to shut the deceased's acct down.

  19. Drug Addict.........lol. please what have you said that added value . Closed and delete what is the difference. If someone is dead , the family can ask facebook to close the account and then facebook deletes it . Doesnt that mean the same thing. If the family does not request for it then it stays open .
STAY off the drugs, it will help u say something sensible next time
