* Tekena was given 15,000 Naira to go to school the day before so she doesn't believe he could have been involved in theft. Besides, none of the items they were said to steal could be found.

ReplyDeleteThe sister was beaten mercilessly as well at the scene especially by women and girls, people threw water on her and were saying "na u send ur brother go thief abi?"she received injuries too.....they are from the kalabari tribe of Rivers State and they do nt have much landmass to build houses talk less of burying the dead,it's mostly Rivers and swamps so they try to break houses and bury dead elders inside a room most times but when young people like this die,or someone who is missing body parts due to this kind of trauma/stress dies,he/she is taken on a boat away to a mangrove swamp which is usually uninhabited and buried there...Not because of any taboo.Universities in Nigeria usually disassociate themselves from students who fall victim to such things outside the university premises bt the University of Port-harcourt will find these ones very hard to deny because their coursemates are all over the internet and the parents of the boys have evidence that their kids were bonafide students....I graduated from the university of Port-harcourt so I know they can even deny anything.
There are so many pics and 7 videos online about these killings and not one shows any knife or gun found on these kids???Tekena was the 1st amongst them to die....he was just 19.If you have evidence showing any weapon found on him...please let us know....God bless your conscience!!!

Can't believe or comprehend the barbarity of the whole thing, and it breaks my heart and makes me so ashamed that my fellow Nigerians can do this to a fellow human being irrespective of whatever their supposed was. In civilised countries, if you kill an animal like that, you will be locked up for life and yet some people actually are excusing the behaviour of these barbarians. But alas, he gets treated in a hanky-panky attitude by the debtor which always results to the debtor - an Aluu indegene - either threatening him or appearing absence each time Ugonna goes to tax him. It was on that faithful fiday morning (6am) he decides to go along accompaning him Timi Kay, Big L, Aladdin and Charles. Getting to the debtors house, there was arguement of which an agreement was finally reached between Ugonna and the debtor of which Ugonna happens to collect the debtors laptop, making up his mind to only give it back once the debtor pays up (its normal in any university setting). But the debtor being an Aluu indegene and comes from Ikwerre (a tribe that thrives in oppressing other tribes in Rivers state except Ogoni, Bonny and Kalabari) knowing he has upper hand as an indegene, happens to know most of the vigilante group securing Aluu, screaming that Ugonna and his friends were thieves since that's the only possible way to get outta the whole debt issue and get back his laptop. Within a moment, there was security men everywhere but Charles managed to escape, abandoning the rest of his friends to their fate. Now, ever wondered why the debtor insisted on killing those four guys? Its simply because he knows that dead men tells no tales and that's the only possible means to get outta paying up the amount borrowed. Ugonna coming from a rich family, isn't concerned about the money, but felt that he shouldn't be treated the way he's being treated by the debtor. Ugonna is a big boy. Big L, Tipsy, Timi Kay and Aladdin, were beaten to death before setting ablaze. And that's the story. I'm a popular guy in my school and the story I just told you is what really happened. Anything contrary to this that you may have read up from somewhere is just pure bunkum and a made-up tale. The fact that those four dudes weren't with any weapon says it all. Not just that, but who on earth robs around 6am? And which armed robber robs in his neighboorhood where he's known? That's the case of those innocent four guys...

1.the sister that was called wasn't the one at the scene,she was reporting what she was told.
2.she said the one at the scene was beaten up for trying to speak up for her brother and that she called their dad who works for the state broadcasting station who in turn called the police.
3.The police came on the scene and practically did nothing which means they sort of gave the nod for the boys to be killed.
4.The allowance the boy gets monthly is 50k.

How I for take sabi all the demons wey dey Ladun Liadi?! Depraved human beings. My family has been robbed and our security guard killed. I lost my father to a crominal act of violence. I still will never support jungle justice. I remember a scene like a movie at my grandma's house when I was about 8 or so. I stood at the balcony on a Sunday morning secretly hoping to spot an Ewa Agoyin seller and also watching people all dressed up for church walking to the bus stop at the junction. This cute guy in a white shirt walked past greeting all the grandma's on his way and stood waiting at the bus stop for his mum to join him. From the other end of Akanro Road, I heard ole ole ole and I watched paralysed as the ole grabbed this poor guy and started shouting ole re. E mu. His tears and pleas that he just left his house fell on deaf ears. Meanwhile, the real thief slipped away. They beat him so bad his white shirt was stained. They were trying to strip him and do the tyre biz when one of the grandmas in the house facing the junction heard the noise and came out and asked why they were harassing him. Her old age convinced them to stop and at least follow him home to confirm he just left home. His mother met them halfway there all dressed up for church and started screaming, crying. That's how the whole neigh ourhood came to his rescue. Imagine if this had happened in a different neighbourhood or state with no one to vouch for him. That guy would have died a slow and miserable death. The scariest part is how paralysed I was. I couldn't even call a grown up for help. But I watched the whole thing and saw how it happened. I'd like to believe that I wasn't so self serving that I'd have watched an innocent man die. That single incident has shaped how I treat anyone accused of a crime till now.

ReplyDeleteI am amazed that any HUMAN BEING would even try to justify this action. Jungle justice even on the worst criminal is wrong. There is a reason why we have laws, courts and sentences for crimes. There is a reason why someone that is even caught red handed and has confessed to a crime would still go through the court processes before convicted and sentenced.
ReplyDeleteAre people so daft that they cannot understand the implications of people choosing to take the law into their hands? Yes, legal and law enforcement mechanisms in this country are not perfect but does that justify murder? I am almost certain that none of the people who participated in the murder have been victims of such brutality so even if there is a case for provocation, where is it coming from? You have to have lost your sense of humanity for you to watch another human being die such a brutal death and still think there is a justification for it.
Tomorrow, it could be anyone caught in an unfortunate situation, even the buffoons that are trying to justify jungle justice. I only pray for their sakes that mercy prevails and they don't learn how easily the tide could turn against them the hard way.
Even though I am so angry at the brutal murder of these boys, I still say those arrested should face the full wrath of the LAW. Anyone who thinks the same treatment should be meted out to them is just as bad as the people who killed those boys.
I worry for the soul of this country, to think that there are some amongst us who do not feel such burning outrage at what has happened and are even attempting to justify it.

The first thing you should ask yourself is whether those boys were truly guilty of stealing. Secondly even if they were guilty, does such a punishment as clubbing a person almost to the point of death and then burning them alive exist in law?
No one is suggesting that criminals should not be punished but it is the barbarity of the punishment meted out to these boys that we are horrified about. If you fail to see that then you don't deserve to be alive yourself.
No half decent person can watch that video and not be horrified except monsters like you who have lost any sense of humanity.

If you took the time to read my comment properly you would see that i never stated anywhere that you said those boys were guilty. This is exactly what i wrote:

However i will go as far as to say that your insensitive and inhumane comments do suggest that you believe they were guilty and therefore deserved the horrific punishment that was meted out to them.

THIS IS WHAT NONYA WROTE:

5. Was the boy refused burial because of the shape of the body or because the village no want unnecessary taboo? Mangled bodies of accident victims are recovered and still buried.
6. No official statement has been made by the Univeristy of Port Harcourt about their students being victims of the gruesome acts by those villagers. Some kids collect money and lie to their parents that they are enrolled in school. Go to Unilag, you will find many young boys and girls claiming to be students when they are actually just hanging out on campus'.
Please be honest and tell me if you think that is an objective comment. Like the rest of us, Nonya does not know what truly led to those boys being burnt alive but his/her comments clearly shows he believes them to be guilty.
So my question is this:
Does the punishment fit the alleged offence?
Most of us are just horrified by the barbarity displayed by the villagers when murdering those boys. Clubbing them almost to the point of death and then setting them ablaze. What a horrific way to die.
Even if they had stolen those items did they deserve to die in such a brutal manner for it.
Please Ms. Bee, let us not lose our humanity over things like laptops and phones.
We must never, not even in the slightest manner condone what those villagers did to the boys.
May their souls rest in peace.
