This is a true story that happened to me and I would like to share with everyone. Please pardon my explanations of the medical details as I am not a medical doctor, but the entire process is true.
On June 23rd 2009, my mum was not feeling fine and she went to a private hospital. She was complaining of breathing problems and was feeling quite uncomfortable. The doctor at the private hospital in Lagos referred her to the teaching hospital to get expert examination from a specialist.
Two days later she went to the teaching hospital where she was referred for Chest x-rays and tests. She went ahead to do these tests and x-rays and returned with the test results to the specialist at the teaching hospital. Please click to continue reading.
The specialist took a look at the result and prescribed an oral steroid. My mum went back home, feeling quite happy that finally her breathing problems would be arrested for good. Not knowing that her problems were just about to multiply.
She started taking the prescribed drugs and within one week she noticed her skin had started getting lighter and kind of orange looking. She also noticed that the breathing problems had not improved. She went back to the doctor and complained again and the doctor increased her dosage.
About a month later, my sister (a doctor of pharmacy in the USA) arrived from the USA for holiday in Nigeria, not knowing what was going on. She noticed that her mother?s skin was looking funny and she asked ?mama what is wrong with your skin?. It was at this stage that my mum narrated the story to her and showed her the drugs.
My sister asked her what the diagnosis was and why she was prescribed such a drug. My mum told her that the doctor had diagnosed a rare form of chest infection that required a specific test to confirm before prescribing the oral steroids, but to my sisters disbelief the required test was not done and my mum was placed on that very harsh regimen without a confirmatory test.
My sister with her pharmacy knowledge knew what the side effects of oral steroid were and was not happy that her mum had been put on such a harsh drug.
First of all my mum is diabetic and the oral steroid is contra indicated for a diabetic. The oral steroid that was prescribed prompted her use of insulin in conjunction with her oral diabetic medication; she also gained tremendous weight that she found it difficult to walk. The weight gain also prompted a weight aggravated hypertension which stressed her heart even further. Can you believe that the doctors never asked her about her previous medical history before placing her on the steroids? Maybe if they had asked they would have known that she was diabetic and should have never been placed on the steroids, but they never asked.
We immediately flew my mum to USA, for follow up medical checkup. When she arrived at USA, they looked at the case file and immediately started questioning the use of the oral steroid. They did a conclusive test that showed that the diagnosis from Nigeria was wrong. What the Nigerian doctors had seen on her chest x-ray were scars from a previous cancer treatment (Radiotherapy) and they interpreted these to mean a rare infection.
The doctors in USA commenced extensive tests, first for the 2 organ systems that support breathing which are the heart and lungs, they asked if a diagnostic test was done (such as a lung biopsy to support their findings in Nigeria). They were alarmed that diagnostic test was not done. The biopsy test done in the USA ruled out what was diagnosed in Nigeria and the lungs were not even involved, it was the heart, she had suffered a heart attack and they were given her an oral steroid that could cause another heart attack. How careless.
Then the battle began, to do damage control, her blood glucose had sky rocketed, due to the steroid. Steroid cannot be stopped abruptly so they had to taper the dose for months while watching her blood glucose and monitoring her insulin intake, they scheduled a heart surgery and implanted a stent to the blocked artery. She was monitored for up to a year, until everything was satisfied.
Ours was a happy ending but not many have this. Patients must be involved in their health care by asking questions. If you are uncomfortable get a second opinion from another doctor.
To God's glory, my mum is well and most of the problems caused by the Oral steroids have been reversed except the use of insulin.
So next time you visit your doctor, you have a right to ask him questions like ?what is the diagnosis?? ?Does it require a test?? ?What is the name of the drug prescribed??, ?why am I been prescribed this drug??, ?What are the side effects?? Insist on doing a medical test to confirm the diagnosis even if it is malaria. Then in order to allay your fears, the internet is a very good resource tool, do a search on the prescribed drug and read about the side effects. If you are not comfortable then go back to see your doctor again and quiz him or her till you are satisfied.
Although we had an unpleasant situation, Nigerian doctors have excelled in many parts of the world and are probably failing in diagnosis sometimes due to lack of the required equipment. Every medical challenge includes yourself and your doctor, so ensure you play your part by asking questions, it is your right to know. Cheers!
That quack MD should be sued! And it beats me how a medical doctor would treat a person without prior knowledge of the person's PMH.
ReplyDeleteThank u for this post
ReplyDeleteMy sista you are lucky , our doctors na to attend parties , they are members of all the social clubs in Nigeria , to read and broaden their horizon na big challenge to them ,they are business men and women selling all sorts in the hospital so how can they impact , how many of them have laptops or iPads are they connected ,can they use their money to buy books , they complain about government when they that went to school work like they are doing people favors . Have you heard of anyone on of them winning awards apart from the ones abroad ?
ReplyDeleteAaabeg leave these people apart from just a few hospitals how many re equipped or clean enough . This country is just in a state of gradual decadence .
Haha! Must u people condem everything abt Nigeria, what do u mean by how many of them have laptops and ipad, haba, exerguration don dey enter am..cool down abeg!
DeleteThe third person who commented really has tunnel vision and must have failed out of medical school at some point or had her heart impacted upon by one.if there is a problem with the head, don't you reckon it will affect the rest of the body? Most public hospitals don't have the right facilities that can stand out even in the 60s and the private ones that do must be out of your financial reach. About the awards...what do you even do? I have seen Nigerian doctors here; brilliant minds who despite the infrastructural hindrances save lives with primitive instruments. You're the sort of people we want out of this country and not the brilliant young medical graduates who choose to leave from frustration. And yes I'm a Doctor. And I have an iPad. Moron!
DeleteSometimes I think its paranoia but I google every drug described and prior to going I webmd my symptoms. Ny family call me all sorts but I say better safe than sorry.
ReplyDeleteMe too!
DeleteMe three!!
DeleteThanks a lot. Nigeria is the self medication capital of the world. Am always quarreling with my mum because of that. Any small thing she has started taking anti malaria drugs. Every sickness is malaria. Ask any nigeria that is having body pains or headache what is wrong with them and you will hear malaria without going to the hospital o. She had heart problem and kept buying and taking malaria drugs until we brought her to the US for check up. Infact my mum is a chemist, pharmacist, doctor, surgeon, infact all the medical professions together. Lol. She used to have a small room in the house that we call her 'concotion room' where she kept all the drugs in the world. Her house boy is the chief drug dispenser. Once she mentions headache or body pain, he will rushed to the room and bring pain killer and anti malaria drugs. We invite her to the US 2 times a year now for check up so she doesn't 'self medicate' herself to death.
ReplyDeleteSorry for all the typos. Didn't proof read. *nigerian *rush *concoction *. My apologies
DeleteI laughed through this comment especially about the houseboy. I can relate to this though. My mum is the same. Instead of a room, she has a big suitcase of drugs and dispenses by herself. We also try our best to get her a professional check up but I know she still does her dispensary work
DeleteMy dear Naija na wah. Everything is malaria or typhoid. Hm
DeleteDoctors and their stupid diagnoses. My baby had been stooling and his peadiatrician said it was stop after a few days. One week later he was still stooling he was admitted. 3days later he was still stooling a 6month old baby. I went to another hospital for a second opinion, the stupid peadiatrican that has a hospital close to the Palms said my baby had malaria. I said he shld conduct a test he said no need. Everybody has a cell sumtin sumtin with malaria in Nigeria. I insisted no mosquitoes in my room. To cut d story short, he gave me Tuxil-D cough syrup for a 7month old baby, paracetamol for 2yrs upwards, CAPSULE malaria medicine n other rubbish. I didn't even look at d drugs prescription, just followed his instructions. Got home n read the instructions on the body of the Meds and discarded all. Since he kept the cartons n leaflets of the Meds. Stupid doctors. Ladun u have to post this. U can save a child with this.I eventually went bck to my hospital and demanded to see an older pead...my baby was only lactose intolerant.
ReplyDeleteNo need for Malaria test? My hospital has never treated any of my children without a lab test first. May God save us.
DeleteThanks for the infor. Parents must learn to trust their instincts and ask questions, especially when small children are involved. I'm well known for arguing with doctors. Most time I google the ailments and read other parents' experience before going to the hospital. That way no Doctor can bamboozle me, just because he wants to make the visit short.
Thank God for your mom and also your sister. What if your sister wasn't into the health field? That is how they kill innocent people everyday. May God be praised for your story
ReplyDeleteVery good write-up!
ReplyDeletethank you for this post. you just saved my mums life. she had surgery to take out discs and plates from her leg after a fracture and all of a sudden she started having pains and feeling very irritable. she'll pee almost 20 times before daybreak and one day she forgot to flush the toilet and woke up to deadly ants in the toilet bowl. she rushed to the hospital and her blood glucose level was 285 which scared the life out of us all. None of my grandparents were diabetic and they died very old. i started thinking to myself that the antibiotics she took the whole time (2yrs) from when she broke her leg till the extraction surgery must have affected her pancreas and messed with her bodys insulin production and i have been so worried cos i'll lose it if my mum dies. only for me to read this and i remembered a month ago she said the leg was hurting so bad and they had to give her steroids. isn't this God at work? if we leave doctors in the teaching hospitals to find out, they'll never know. May God bless you and i wish u and your mum the best.
ReplyDeleteAnon 15:25, can't stop laughing oooo. thank God for ur mom's life tho. lmao
ReplyDeleteThank God she survived. I am a doctor, practicing both in the US and Nigeria. I see a HUGE difference in my two patient populations. Nigerians need to be more health aware, it seems they are afraid to ask questions? PleAse ASK questions, get 2 nd and even 3 rd opinions if needed.
ReplyDeleteI really find it hard to believe a Dr did not take a PMH from the patient!!! History taking is one of the first things we are thought to do in medical school.
And u were not taught to spell "Taught" Mr. US doctor. Smh.
DeleteAm currently suffering from the same thing. This pharmacist at ozone cinema, I went there and just complained that I've been having catarrgh for almost 3 weeks now and it hasn't gone. I've used everything and its still there. So she said maybe I have an infection and in my little brain I was like are u sure I have an infection she said yes that's the reason why the cold wouldn't go. I thought she was gonna give me nasal drop or something mild, this woman gave me AUGMENTIN. Am a corper, I had to borrow money from my corper friend to buy the drug 3000 naira. She said I should take it every. 12hrs. The third corper wiv us did not enter the shop cause she was talking wiv someone outside so when me and the corper that was wiv me came out, we showed the 3rd corper what we bought and she laughed that the lady is fund of giving people augmentin. That she knows 2 people that complains of tummy pain or cough she just gives augmentin saying its infection. That point I felt bad cus of the amount of the drug and how am I sure it is gonna work for me. So when I got home, I used it, the second day I did, the third day that was yesterday sunday, I woke up and I saw rashes from my face. To my hands and tummy and my whole back. Bysunday evening it had multiplied and my catarrh became worse. I've been crying and itching my body since. Its peppering me seriously! Just went to get this creams for rashes and its drying up. But I look like a monster. It hasn't fully gone, I hope it goes by tomorrow! And I still have the catarrh.
ReplyDeleteProbably they had excess suply of Augmentin and she's forcing it on every walk in customer.
DeleteShould u go to a pharmacist for treatment? The rashes haven't started sef.
DeleteChidi may God punish u. Idiot. Because I have a catarrh I should go to a doctor? U must be stupid!
DeleteHello anonymous...its sad that you are displaying such ignorance very confidently...YES you should go see a doctor if you've had a catarrh for so long after using various medication, that's why we have General Medical Practices, it doesn't have to be a teaching hospital. It is not the duty of the pharmacist to know what is wrong with you and prescribe the correct drugs...the babe just did what she knows and you ended up with what you got...RASHES
DeleteU must be STUPID!!!! When did pharmacists start treating diseases. Catarrh is just a symptom of some underlying condition. U better go and find out what is causing ur catarrh b4 u openly display ur ignorance. Abi, u don't know even wt catarrh u can ve anything a simple URTI 2 cancers 2 even AIDS. Sit down there. Now u've developed a drug reaction 2 d Augmentin and looking 4 cream 4 rashes!!! Tomorrow, u wld take Augmentin again and come up wt an even worse rxn. And, yes, I'm a doctor!!!!
DeleteSimilar story, exactly how i lost my dad in one of d teachin hospital. He has been managin diabetes for a while now & goin for check ups.it got to a stage dat his sugar level is abnormal & they keep prescribin drugs instead of admitin him.we move to anodr hospital & he was immediately admited.like seriously our health care system is wack.those doctors do not want to do anythin.
ReplyDeletewow, this is why my mum is stongly against private hospitals she says they are profit oriented, but even the tertiary hospitals have thier own faults....is Only God that protects and gives good health, God would continue to watch over us all.
ReplyDeletethanx for this eye opener. God bless.
pls read this story and leave a comment MY BOYFRIEND WANTS TO BREAK UP WITH ME BECAUSE OF PIMPLES

It's almost as if nothing works in this country anymore! There are qualified docs out there but they won't employ them! u have to have a godfather somwia! A cousin of mine got to the final interview to work in Gbagada GH and d only question they asked her was 'who is your god-father?' She was so stuneed she first didnt know how to answer, and later, she said God! This person has worked in yankee b4 o, she just wanted to settle in Naija cos of her hubby and kids... Crazy people! the rot in this economy is too deep! Three weeks ago, I was given so drugs as well that I was wondering what they were for. I didn't take them cos I was like I was going to ask the doc why he gave me the drugs. On getting there, I saw another doc who was wondering why i got the drugs in the first place! Best thing always google the drugs u get b4 using them! This Naija, if you don't want to die like chicken, u gotta be extra careful!
ReplyDelete"Who is your godfather" during an interview? This is a lie abeg.
DeleteThank you so much for this post. I am very grateful. Will start researching all drugs and even check forms of treatment prior to any visit. Glad your mom is okay
ReplyDeleteThank God for your moms life
ReplyDeleteI remember I had a strep infection in my first trimester some years ago, went to the DR and kept TELLING HIM I was pregnant , despite that I had this doctor give me some drugs that weren't suitable for pregnancy in fact my situation got worse and after I sought a 2nd opinion the doctor was short of telling me I will give birth to a deformed baby.
My husband bundled me to the U.S immediately because it took us 5 years to even get pregnant
I had a rough 6 months wait even after all tests concluded my baby was fine until the time he was born
imagine the heartache I went through for 6 months till my baby was born .
..........Only recently I was diagnosed with having lumps in my breast and since theres a history of breast cancer in my family history I was on edge
I went the whole 9 yards and even sought 2nd and 3rd opinions to cut the long story short it was time to have my biopsy in preparation to have surgery using a 3D ultrasound, guess what was found? Lymph nodes in one of the breasts and nothing in the other
The thing tire me
Very good info. I have been what they call an internet treater for a while now. Any single thing I have including colds, I look for remedies, symptoms, seriousness and side effects online. Of course I also check for home remedies and read fully on all drug facts. It is a life saver
ReplyDeleteunfortunately no be today amongst nigerian medics...result of churning out half baked doctors, even some people who want to answer the name dr so and so will go to any length fair or foul to achieve it
ReplyDeletethe late gain fawehinmi was mis diagnosed by nigerian doctors and consultants until his ailment got progressively worse, same for far adua and his aso rock over paid doctors
thank GOD i don't suffer any medical ailments other than sore throat and cold and i always make sure i have everything i need from the nhs before going to naija the only drugs i will buy in naija is malaria drugs n stuffs
People get misdiagnosed abroad too. With Cancer that Gani had, its dicey. My Aunty in the US was given a clean bill of health as per Cancer in 3 hospitals in US before a 4th one diagnosed her of breast cancer. All within a week. Shit happens everywhere.
DeletePls all of you who are saying Nigerian doctors are stupid, next time you are in or anyone from your family please stay at home and die.you are comparing Nigeria with the US that has more advanced technology in medicine.
ReplyDeleteGod bless you for this post.
DeleteI keep telling my husband and sometimes he thinks I am claiming to know too much. But I need to have all the information to take drugs. Pls just like I do
ReplyDelete1. Ask for the name of drug (some won't even tell the patient)
2. Ask if given all your body conditions you are fit to take it
3. Ask for adverse reactions and what you should do if they occur.
4. Finally, get a second even third opinion it costs money but not health esp if your mind is not at rest.
Tnx again 4 this Ladun
This happened to me like 3 months ago and I miscarried my pregnancy. I was put on steroid and it elevated my blood sugar. I was not monitored on the steroid. Even though I knew something was not so right but I though they were pregnancy hormones. This happened in uk. When not sure pls speak.
ReplyDeleteim a medical doctor and even a medical student can't prescribe oral steroids for chest infection,so pls re-arrange ur story and bring it on.lack of patriotism is worrying Nig,we all know that ths is jux a cooked lie,but Ladun, visit blogs from other countries, they don't run there countries down,nt to say we should cover evil.if u know very well that the presciption is wrong and not self medication or frm road side chemist,i challenge u to go sue the doctor,u r learned ,aint u? cheap lies
ReplyDeleteShut up, foolish bastard. Abeg don't let me curse u and ur generation. U dis quack! All of una, na hell they wait u people! Foolish people who don't no anything, give u wrong diagnosis, wrong drugs, wrong advise. Everything is just wrong. Now I have craw craw because of u people.......
DeleteNecta! Atakata elooo.
DeleteD doctor gave steroids b/c he or she thought d pt had a fibrotic lung disease where steroids can be used. B/c he didn't ve had PMH didn't know she had post radiation fibrosis and probably did not do a good physical examination and missed out on Heart Failure. Also steroids. R not absolutely contra indicated in Diabetes. Control may go awry so u wld need higher doses of insulin!!! I know, b/c I'm a doctor. Lol. B4 u haters start on me, I prescribe a chill pill.
DeleteTypos * and b/c he didn't ask abt her past Medical history(PMH)*
DeleteGod will save us from naija quack doctors. Happened to a friend of mine too . A doctor prescribed a malaria drug for her which she used. She then slept off in my house. Fortunately, my mum was around then, and she is a retired nurse. My friend woke me up in the middle of the night that she could not breathe well and she was in tears. I was scared shitless cos a/v never seen her in tears before. I mean she is very strong. My mum heard me praying and as a mother became worried and came to my living room to find out what was happening. I could see my mum's alarmed expression when she saw the package of the malaria drug, she helped us out and my friend's breathing became normal and she later went to sleep. My mum told me afterwards after getting to my room that the drug that was prescribed for my friend has been banned by WHO due to the harsh side effect. Can you imagine? I later read that paper inside d drug and saw the adverse side effect that the drug affects the heart and should be administered by monitoring the patient closely. The name of the drug is halifatine or something. And the idiot doctor gave my friend and asked her to go home. The question is why prescribed something that has been banned by WHO? . If not for my mother that came to the rescue that midnight, would i have said? GOD WILL HELP US IN THIS NATION.
ReplyDeleteNice post you have here.keep up the good work
ReplyDeleteHmmmm my 7 yr old daughter and 6 yr old son been complaining of eye problem. Since last yr and d optician gave them eye drops. We went for check up and he said they need glasses. My inner mind is sooo telling me he's FAKE as he was soo particular about d money involved. I even think d lense he gave me is high for me. I'm taking my kids to FMC next wk during their mid term break to see a better optician. I really can't shout cos eyes are very delicate. Thanks for d post.
ReplyDeleteSee an opthalmologist. Not an optician. Google 4 d difference.
DeleteI'll be back in Naija within a few years when my hospital is ready; u pple dont have to waste money abroad anymore and pls mine is not a charity organisation so be preared to pay for all relevant investigations and treatment. Thanks
ReplyDelete@dr necta
ReplyDeletelets be honest it is the truth my ex girlfriend is a medical doctor still in naija,my bro in law is a consultant surgeon apart from this i have a couple of friends in the medical profession there are many awesome doctors in nigeria, side by side with several half baked doctors who bribed and deceived their way through I'm sure you are familiar with the mis diagnosis of the people i mentioned in my previous comments ...
the likes of the late gain fawehinmi was misdiagnosed in a private hospital by a supposedly highly regarded medical personnel...same as far adua given the wrong drugs by supposedly highly regarded professorMD amongst several others
you are very right. Nigerian doctors are something else. They are lazy, arrogant and very wicked. They complain about Goverment not providing state of the art medical facilities, yet they dont even have the right attitude to work! They act as if they are doing you a damn favour treating you.You really cant afford to get sick in Nigeria. The first thing they would tell you is that you have typhiod that is hiding in your intestine. Then load you up with all sorts of antibiotics. God help you if you are pregnant. You are squarly on your own. I really hate those young doctors. Very stupid. I never allow them touch me. Plenty bad experiences
ReplyDeleteYou can like to date one of the young ones to get over it. Lol.
DeleteNotice me or I die! :'( we don't care about your 'cool stories'! .. Hmmnnn I have seen disbetes like 5 times.. Perhaps nigerians living in nigeria need to reduce their carbohydrate intake.
ReplyDeleteOh please, your sister is a doctor of pharmacy and you couldnt call your sister first to relay this message to her about your mum's new medication? What use is your sister to you all then if you dont confide in her? I am glad your mother turned out well after the long battle but next time, ask questions not only from your doctor but from your sister or other doctors you may know. Even in America, mistakes or clumsiness have been made before. Even though, the original doctor in Nigeria should be flogged for that incorrect diagnosis.
ReplyDeleteI wonder what the teach all this dr in 7YRS of medical school, is very unfortunate on how most of the so called dr misdiagnose people. may we not be a victim of bad naija healthcare system.I met a dr once at work who came to naija and his comment to me was "robbers will not kill a person in naija bt the lack of proper healthcare will be the killer".i was so embarrassed cos i know hw much we do to care for our patients over here. its sadden my heart

ReplyDeleteMy mum used to work in luth for 30 years, she was a non medical staff, worked at medical records. I can categorically tell u that, it is better to drink "Agbo" than going to a Nigerian hospital. Fortunately for me I did my primary school inside luth. At that age, I had seen countless dead bodies. I saw d way doctors treat patients, both young and old. I swear to God almighty, people that die from doctors in Nigeria is more than witchcraft. They are wicked and they don't no anything. But God will visit the pains they have caused many nigerians on their own families too. My mums friend that time was diagnosed wiv breast cancer because of a small lump, after they cut the breast and did further test, they found out that it was false by that time she had gotten infection from the surgery. She died! From what my mum told me, the doctors are very incompetent. This drug marketers come and meet them and pay and beg them to administer their drugs and this doctors do not run any kinda test. They have their own cut from administering those drugs to patients. Secondly they love lumps in breast, even if its not cancerous, to do a surgery to cut it off is money for them. The worst is ceasarian section. Oh lord have mercy. Have u noticed how young girls go through cs anyhow. Its because normal birth is cheap. So they concort different types of stories and complications just so u can go through a cs. Just complain of normal pain during childbirth, they'd tell u , u have to do a CS! the nurses and even to the cleaners are not left out..... Just have an accident and go to luth, if u see d way the doctor will be shouting on u that is in pain, as if they are doing charity work. Just pray that ur sickness is not more than malaria especially if u can't travel abroad for treatment. If not,,,,,,, u need jesus!
ReplyDeleteThey love lumps in breasts eh? My dear at the 1st sign of a breast lump, better remove it and save your life, dont come here and be making noise about doctors loving lumps. What do they want to do with you lumps. You forget that all these doctors in Luth do not get extra money into their pockects by asking you to get a lump out or having a CS. Money goes to the hospital
DeleteHuman beings are so ungrateful.
Pls see an ophtamologist* spelling check pls* and not optician or optomerist. They all have different qualifications, and a rounded opinion is needed for your children
ReplyDeleteSom1 pls help,am on vacation in south africa and I had toilet infection and I went 2 clicks pharmacy whr a doctor Prescribed some drugs 4 me and since then av not seen my menses buh always av dis abdominal pain...took d drugs on d 2nd and was suppose 2 start my menses on d 5th/6th and am not preggie

ReplyDeleteMy mum had was to undergo an ankle surgery at a private hospital for an injury she sustained during a robbery incident but we all preferred her having it done at National Orthopeadic (Gbobi) being a specialist hospital but it was a very great mistake. The ankle became worse after d surgery, d implant and screw used was too big for her legs so she was asked not to put d leg down for a very long time b4 she had another surgery to remove the implants but she still felt pains and went for xray only to discover that d implant was not fully removed, we had to go back to d private hospital but d Dr was truthful enough to tell us that there was really no remedy again cos the joint had been damaged at Gbobi, options available was for her feet to be fused directly in d leg so she won't be able to turn/twist d leg or she leaves it d way Gbobi did it and remain on painkillers for d rest of her life. Good help us in this land
ReplyDeleteSorry. Dt is sad. Bad doctors are everywhere even d so called America u guys are trumpeting about. Wonder why health care is so costly there??? Go figure. Pray everywhere 4 good doctors. Even d Americans also ve stories 2 tell abt their own health care system!!!!

ReplyDeletegosh guys why do we always have to go to the lowest low and insult each other
ReplyDeletena so idiot, crazy, mad dey scatter everywhere
this is so unnecessary just learn what you can learn from the article and move on
gosh
Naija people tire me oh!!!
Madam with toilet disease. there is no such thing. Better go to a doctor and confess that you had unprotected sex, so you can be treated appropriately, before you end up with infertility.
ReplyDeleteThis is the problem. ignorance and lies. you know what you have done oh. Better go and help yourself.
so the disease jumped from the toilet into your vagina? or it crawled in?
Abeg use sense nahhhhh.
Choiii r u a guy? Cos u r soOo naïve...eaya pele!d viginal is very sensitive ok sitting on d toilet bowl and d water splashing alone is risk, washing ur pu**y every min wif ur finger in causes discharge too....if u read an aticle on lib u will knw discharge is a normal tin even wen u over clean
DeleteAm a doctor, fault is from both ur mum amd the doctor.if uv had cancer before why not volunteer the info?is she a baby to be told sh needed to inform the doctor that she was diabetic?i agree doctors in nigeria could be callous and all,but patients help yourselvesntoo.we dojt have many diagnostic tools in nigeria so we re left incapacitated which is wrong.thank God ur mum is alive
ReplyDelete@lovelylady
ReplyDeleteeven the way you responded to the comment shows you are probably one of the doctors whose manner of approaching and addressing patients needs an overhaul...what do you mean by calling the person's mum a baby?
you of all people should know what people pass through in such a situation.me that i only had an ear infection for a week,i lost weight and i couldn't even express myself properly to the gp,yet the man was kind and gentle and patient with me till he got all the relevant info he needed to prescribe a treatment.
not having diagnostic tools is not enough excuse to justify the failure and industrial level mis diagnosis nigerian doctors commit.. isn't that what your british general formulary is for?to check symptoms against ailments?this is amongst several medical books and journals including the skills you have learnt for 7 years...what of western trained medics practising in war torn areas without proper equipments,in the bushes and hinterlands..
necessity is the mother of invention,i even read about a british optometrist who went to volunteer in india because he couldn't transport the very expensive diagnostic tools needed he got an iPad took photos of the different eye problems and sent it to consultants who will study it and then do a Skype chat to agree on a diagnosis why haven't nigerian doctors done that??
all they know is to strike over salaries shout at patients
