My Fiancée Will Be the Next King... As A Christian Can I Support Him?

Hi Ladun,

I happen to be in a relationship with this great guy and things have been good. We plan getting married someday and we are getting really really serious. But he comes from a royal family and he is the next in line for kingship. As a Christian, I believe such things are fetish. I tried talking to him about it but he thinks the fetish thing isn't included in the coronation anymore. I don't know how true this is and there's no one around me who can tell me how it is done. I love this guy and I want to stand by him. But I really want to know if as a Christian can support/join him in this.

  1. Before nko? Aren't there christian kings. Just that he must be a good christian himself and he should know what he's standing for.

  2. I think I know who this is.....;-) but babes.... There's nuffin prayer cannot answer, and I know you pray a lot. I pray God gives you the right answers, cos I'm sure the lousy comments from blog readers cannot do so.

  3. Trust me, every coronation has a fetish element whether he is in support or not.

It's up to you to decide if you want to stick with him.

  5. OYO. Can he control what's used for the coronation? I doubt it. Fetish as hell. Later they will dash him a younger wife.

  6. If that is what he thinks, then he is very naive, lying or ignorant. Girl every coronation involves fetish activities so know what you are getting into before you tie the knot. Does traditional crowing not have its roots in traditional practices so what is he talking about? I come from a royal family so I know what am talking about.

    1. Was the Queen of England not crowned? Is that fetish too? Should Kate Middleton flee the palace?

Most of the orthodox Churches' way of worship have their roots in pagan worship. That's not to say they are still worshiping Idols. There are a lot of Christian Kings in Nigeria today. Things have changed. If your royal family engages in fetish stuff, speak for them only.

    2. How do u knw the crown of england is not fetish .. If u don't live with them in d palace then be quiet ooo. Most of the royals families abroad are so messed up so how knws what REALLY lies beneath the crown.

As for Kate middleton , finding a bride that will marry a prince no hard. Confirmed stories show that it was Kate that chased Williams relentlessly. So I am sure with or without fetish there was no stopping Kate from marrying williams

  8. Go on your knees and pray for wisdom. Not all coronations are fetish, where is he from? You need to fast and pray esp in the issues of marriage and let the Holy Spirit guide you.

  10. If you like leave him, one of the negative advisers here will probably get married to him. Have you attended a coronation before? Did you witness the "fetish things"? He hasn't even married you yet and you are worrying about things that don't concern you.

Please concentrate on your great guy. When its time for coronation, ignore things that don't concern you and hereafter, try and be a great Queen to your King.

Don’t knw much about Nigeria monarchy system , but my Dad refused to accept chieftaincy title on many occasions because he felt there are some fetish strings attached to it ... He was always quick to correct you if you call him a chief that he isn’t one.

If there are fetish strings attached to “chief” how much more for the “King” ..

Pray about it and ask God to direct you .. Sha open your eyes WELL WELL and know what you are entering into even if the man decides to close his eyes. .
With Marriage you never knw what the future holds because even those who marry PASTORS are not immune to troubled / difficult marriages .

  17. you did not state your tribe but for me speaking about the yoruba tribe there is no king no matter how small that will not be involved in some important and mandatory rituals..a yoruba king/traditional ruler is by obligation the custodian of the proverbial 16 different deities/gods which is believed to make up traditional worship and practises in yoruba land he is king over everyone including witches and wizards…there are some deities that its only the king that can touch it,there are some rituals that if the king does not do it will have an adverse effect on the area and there are some responsibilities that fall on the olori as well there are times when nobody but the wife/olori can see or touch the king or perform some rites on him so will you refuse when the time comes? .
the only compromise that i can see here is for you to be prepared for him to marry another wife who will be assisting him in those rituals and traditional practises while you will just be a normal olori in the palace with the attendant drama and undermining you..

my honest advice to you is to seriously talk about this now and amicably break up while you look for someone else and let him look for another wife if you marry him you cannot avoid indulging in specific rituals and rites

    1. Luca....so correct.be it among Aworis,Egun people,Egba,Ijebu or what have you.theres nowhere it's not obtainable.had a friend's father from Ekiti who came home from the Uk and decided to take up the reins of kingship without fortifying himself.needless to say,he lost his head in the process.an oba, must be powerful and in control of all the levels of reality.be it spiritual, physical.and conversant with the worlds and it's element.any slip up will be fatal.so he is taught so many rites/rituals.he also knows when to have sex or what food to eat at any particular time.infact,it's complex......
I know it's serious among Yorubas but ibos are not exempted ohh.infact,it's the same.edos, efik, ibibio, all Africans.its same.
If you are a Staunch Christian.keep off
